Departmental History:

"S" was received from Los Angeles County on April 22, 1971, for Murder First (7 counts).  "S" received a sentence to Death which was commuted to Life in 1977.  Minimum Eligible Parole Date (MEPD) is December 13, 1978, as is scheduled for Board of Prison Term appearance on March 2000.  "S" was endorsed for PHU placement on January 23, 1998, by DRB due to expiration of MERD at Pelican Bay State Prison (PBSP) Security Housing Unit (SHU) for Psychiatric Services Unit (PSU) placement.  "S" was re-evaluated and the Mental Health Services at PBSP-PSU determined Correctional Clinical Case Management Services (CCCMS) level of care was appropriate.  He currently receives CCCMS at California State Prison-Corcoran (CSP-COR).  "S" was originally placed in CSP-COR-PHU on May 6, 1994, due to the notoriety of his case which involved the Tate/La Bianca murders.  Prior to CSP-COR-PHU placement, he had served the majority of his sentence in segregated units due to his disciplinary history.  "S" was again placed in Ad Seg on September 16, 1998, due to allegedly participating in illegal business activity.  "S" was returned to CSP-COR-PHU and endorsed to SATF-PHU on January 12, 1999.
