glimpse of Mary. Gary starts to speak to him and Charlie swings the sword into
the side of Gary’s face. Bobby looks shocked. Susan laughs. Bobby laughs. Manson
says they want everything that belongs to Gary. House and car, too. Manson says
he wants the money that Gary owes him. Gary looks in a drawer. Hands over car
and house titles to Bruce.
Charlie, Bruce and Bobby walk toward car. Bobby says they can’t just leave
Gary or he’ll call police. Charlie says "Well, you know what to do" and gets in
car with Bruce. Bobby draws a knife and heads back into house. From outside you
hear Gary pleading.
OPENING CREDITS.

remake of Beatles song "Helter Skelter."
SCENE 2 (Spahn Movie Ranch):

is carry Tanya and a suitcase. Gypsy says they have a deal with the owner to
stay there. There are about 25 of them. Says Charlie takes care of them and is
"like our savior." Linda asks when she’ll meet Charlie but Linda says she
doesn’t know and not to ask. Linda thanks her for bringing her to Spahn Ranch
and says she had no place else to go. Paul is filming Susan and Pat. Gypsy
introduces Linda to Susan, Pat, Paul and Tex. Pat takes Tanya away which seems
to disturb Linda but Gypsy tries to explain it away.
Gypsy takes Linda toward a small trailer where George Spahn and Squeaky are
sitting outside. Gypsy kisses both and introduces them to Linda. Squeaky
immediately asks for Linda’s credit cards and drivers license. Says everything
belongs to everyone. Opens the wallet and we see a photo of Linda’s mother.
Squeaky starts into the trailer with the wallet and Linda says she wanted to
keep the picture of her mother. Squeaky says she knows and puts the wallet (with
photo) into a suitcase with other similar items. Welcomes Linda to the Family.
SCENE 3 (Beach Boys’ Recording Studio):
Charlie, Bobby, Kitty and two other girls are in the recording area. Don’t
seem serious. Dennis Wilson and Terry Melcher are in the mixing booth. Melcher
asks where they came from. Dennis says they found him. Basically describes them
as trouble. Says the Beach Boys recorded one of his songs and it didn’t do well.
Terry asks if Manson really was an ex-con. Dennis confirms it and says it was
major. Terry asks if he is dangerous and Dennis says "Look at his eyes. You tell
me. People love him for that alone."
Charlie comes into the booth and Dennis introduces him to Terry. Charlie
talks rather bizarrely. Seems to be in a hurry to get a record released.
Complains about Beach Boys changing his words and insults Dennis about it.
Dennis says they’ll get some people together and come to the Ranch to show what
Charlie is all about. Says it will be record company people. Dennis says he can
tell some of his prison stories and they’ll love it. Says Terry might also come
but Terry immediately interjects that he might but "don’t count on it." Terry
quickly excuses himself from the room. Charlie says something about Thursday and
bringing contracts. Charlie tries to get a commitment from Terry but he is doing
his best to discourage it and get out of the room. After Terry is gone, Charlie
says to Dennis "I heard something about... Thursday?"

its beam around the ranch. Everybody is taking LSD. Probably Clem handing it
out. Gives some to Charlie who hides his.

eat. Linda asks "why?" and Charlie is upset by it. Complains that the word "why"
doesn’t exist. Gypsy explains that Linda just arrived that day. Linda says her
husband left her. Had been staying in some communes. Charlie asked what she was
looking for. "Jesus?" he asks. Everybody laughs as if they know something. Linda
answers "maybe." He says "Well, if you’re looking to do your looking around
here, you’re going to have to bring us something." She asks what. He essentially
tells her to look around and see what other people have and steal it.
One of the girls (Kitty?) says they met the Beach Boys today. Bobby says "One
of the Beach Boys. Dennis Wilson." Susan asks if that’s the one that sings real
high. Kitty also mentions another guy they met and Bobby says it was Doris Day’s
son, Terry Melcher. Linda seems impressed. Bobby says Dennis and Terry are going
to make Charlie a star. The dogs finish eating and then the Family begin eating.
SCENE 6 (Spahn Movie Ranch):
Charlie is talking to Linda privately about heavy thoughts. "That thought
that you’re carrying. Who am I? Your father? Very heavy thought. And it’s still
holding you back because you’re still giving it the reigns." Linda, who is very
emotional, says it’s her step-father, who hates her. "How did you know?" Charlie
says she can’t hide from him (Charlie). Says she feels disposable because of her
husband and father. Says she doesn’t really fit anywhere. Charlie says she’s
playing a disposable role in the game they’re playing with her life. Says she
isn’t disposable. She’s the most valuable and perfect thing in the world. Says
he knows what it’s like to be thrown away. Tells her to come to "now" where he
is her husband and father. Says she will never be thrown away again. She says "I
feel like you can see inside of me."

going on around them with accompanying moans.

Gypsy brings Linda to Charlie and says Linda has something for him. Linda
gives him $5,000 which she says she stole from her ex-husband’s friend. Says
it’s the first thing she’s ever stolen and that she did it for him. He flips
through the money. Says she did good. Everybody cheers. He asks group if she
stole. They all say "no." He asks why and they reply "because everything belongs
to everybody." Charlie kisses Linda. Then he leads one of the girls (Susan?) to
Linda who also kisses her. Then all of the Family members converge on Linda, who
looks uncomfortable, and start kissing her. Charlie sits back watching it all.

SCENE 10 (Expensive house):

dressed completely in black. They look around the house and one finds an open
door. They enter the house and move furniture around in bizarre ways. Turn TV
around to face the wall. Eat food. Sit chairs on top of table. Turn painting
upside down on wall. Go upstairs and enter a bedroom with sleeping couple. Tex
steals a watch and cash from dresser table. Charlie makes strange hand gestures
over sleeping couple. Linda smiles from other side of bed. Charlie gestures for
her to take an item for the bedside table. Possibly a pocket watch. She takes it
and smiles back at Charlie. They all leave the house.

Gary’s car. Susan asks if Charlie knows.

ain’t coming, Charlie." Charlie says "I thought he would be here with all them

looking for Terry Melcher. Wojtek says Terry hasn’t lived there for months.
Wojtek is very gruff with Charlie and demands to know who he was to come through
the gate. Charlie starts calling out for Terry like he doesn’t believe it.
Sharon comes to the door and asks "Who is it?" She looks at Charlie like she’s
frightened by him. He eyes her like he’s very interested. Wojtek answers
"Nobody." Continues "No Melcher here. Goodnight." and shuts the door in
Charlie’s face. As the door shuts, Sharon and Charlie continue to look at each
other in the same way.

in another looking for food. Susan tells how they throw out fries if no one
places an order within an hour. Linda finds some lettuce. Susan says she doesn’t
know what they’ll do when they get to the desert but Charlie probably has it
figured out. Linda asks if Charlie is really taking them to the desert. Susan
says "Yep, after helter skelter comes down." Linda asks what helter skelter is.
Susan says Charlie only talks about it to the guys but knows it will be a war
between the blacks and whites. The blacks will start it but the Family will be
in the desert by then. Linda asks how long Susan has known Charlie. She tells of
meeting him in San Francisco where she worked as a stripper. He sang songs to
her. Linda says she’d love here him sing. Susan tells Linda that she (Linda) is
already in love with him. Linda smiles and says "Aren’t you?" Susan says
"Charlie is love." Tells of seeing Charlie breathing on a dead bird and it then
flying away. Tells how he changed her life from hating everybody to loving
everybody. Susan then asks "Do you know he’s Jesus?" Linda looks a bit
concerned.
SCENE 15 (Dennis Wilson’s house):

in a chair. Dennis tells him to knock next time. Charlie complains that nobody
came by on Thursday. Dennis says nobody made any promises. Tells Charlie to talk
to Melcher again but Charlie says he can’t get to him. Asks Dennis to try again.
Dennis says he did what he could. Got him on tape. Charlie complains it was only
a demo and wants an album to get his message out. Charlie wants to know what
happened to the promises. Dennis says that maybe Charlie scared Melcher away.
Charlie says he needs $1,500. Dennis says no and complains about how much money
the Family already cost him and how they wrecked his house and he had to move
out. Manson complains about the Beach Boys using his music and not paying.
Charlie throws a bullet at Dennis who picks it up and asks "What the hell is
this?" Charlie tells him to keep it and every time he looks at it to think
"Isn’t that nice that I’m still alive." Charlie walks out onto beach. Dennis
yells that he had tried to help but everybody thought he was an ungrateful,

either. Says to stay away from all of them. Closes door behind Charlie.

leaves and Tex picks up gun and knives that were laying on the bar.
Charlie goes outside and huddles with Linda, Susan and Pat. Tells them to go
with Tex and do whatever he says. Charlie says it’s time for helter skelter.
In car. Tex is in driver’s seat and hand weapons to Linda. Tells her to wrap
them up and throw them out if police pull them over. She nervously asks if

conversation but Roman says he knows Jay is not his competition. She asks if
he’s lonely in London. He says "Lonely for you, that’s all." Sharon turns sad
and is concerned and says "Really? That’s all?" Again, Abigail looks concerned.
Roman answers that he only wants to play with her and their son. She tells him
to call her tomorrow and they each say "I love you."
Jay and Wojtek enter room and Jay asks if Roman’s on his way. She says as

bother them. Pat says they know what the victims stood for. They’re "the man"
and "the authority." They’re part of the system that kills millions and they
never even get their hands dirty. Linda says they were so young and Sharon was
pregnant. Susan says death is an illusion and has no meaning. Pat says it’s
something the Family was doing for the victims. Not to them. Linda asks if they
really believe that. Susan says it’s true. Ugly but true. Pat says it’s
beautiful. Linda says she could never kill anybody. Susan says Linda doesn’t
know what she can do. Susan says "You know what I feel? Hungry." Susan gleefully
