No Changes In Scott Case
Ashland Daily Independent, June 5, 1969
ASHLAND, KENTUCKY - City police today reported no further changes in the investigation of the
knife slaying May 28 of Darwin Morell (Scotty) Scott, 64, of Ashland.
"We're still plugging along," said Chief Lewis E. Mutters. "We are
still working at it but we still don't have anything definite."
Nick Diniaco, general contractor here, told the Independent today, "Mr. Scott
was a fine employee for me. I was to say that he treated my trucks and
equipment as he would his personal things. His past record had been
mentioned before, but that's something I don't pay attention to when I hire a
man."
"All I know is that Mr. Scott did a good job for me and he was an employee to
depend upon. I've hired a lot of men who have had records and my purpose
is help rehabilitate them and give them the chance they need to become good
citizens. And that's what Mr. Scott was in my opinion."
Ashland police who are continuing the investigation along with Chief Mutters
are Capt. Harold Rush, Det.-Sgt. Howard R. Gillum and Sgt. Tom Kelley.
