1970, Early Ruth Ann Moorehouse returned to Family and became pregnant (probably around March-April).
1970, January Diane Lake was admitted to Patton State Hospital and labeled as schizophrenic.
1970, January 5 Watsons' return to California was ordered.
1970, January 6 Kasabian was arraigned and pled not guilty.
1970, January 6 Van Houten's attorney requested a psychiatric evaluation of his client.
1970, January 16 Watson was granted a 30 day continuance.
1970, January 19 Van Houten requested a change of attorney (from Part to Reiner)
1970, February 6 Van Houten was ruled legally sane and granted a change of attorney.
1970, February 6 Manson requested the trial start and Judge Keene set the trial date for March 30.
1970, February Beausoleil and Lutesinger's daughter was born.
1970, February 16 Manson requested a change of venue but was denied.
1970, February Krenwinkel waived extradition proceedings and was returned to California.
1970, February 24 Krenwinkel made her first court appearance and requested Paul Fitzgerald be appointed as her attorney.
1970, February 26 Prosecution signed deal to give immunity to Kasabian.
1970, February 28 Prosecution first interviewed Kasabian.
1970, March Paul Watkins was burnt in a Volkswagen camper fire.
1970, March 3 Prosecution took Kasabian to Tate house, place where bloody clothes were disposed of and Weber house.
1970, March 5 Manson allowed to meet with Atkins.
1970, March 6 Judge Keene vacated Manson's right to represent himself.  Appointed Charles Hollopeter to be his attorney.
1970, March 6 Manson's "Lie" album released.
1970, March 7 Kasabian taken to hospital.
1970, March 9 Kasabian gave birth to a boy whom she named Angel.  "Helter Skelter" added Nathan in parentheses.
1970, March 11 Atkins allowed to substitute Daye Shinn in place of Richard Caballero as her attorney.
1970, March 13 Kasabian was returned to jail.
1970, March 15 Prosecution took Kasabian to show route the killers took on night of LaBianca murders.
1970, March 19 Manson requested he be allowed to represent himself, again.  Judge denied him but allowed the replacement of Hollopeter with Ronald Hughes.
1970, Late March (est) Fitzgerald quit his public defender job in order to represent Krenwinkel.  Previously, he had a conflict of interest.
1970, Late March Beausoleil's retrial for the Hinman murder began.  Beausoleil took the stand and said Manson was the killer.
1970, Late March (est) Fromme and Pitman visited Brunner in Wisconsin apparently to discuss her testimony in the Hinman murder trial.
1970, April Bugliosi requested that Atkins, Van Houten and Krenwinkel print the same words that were left at crime scenes.  Krenwinkel refused but the other two complied.
1970, April Bugliosi first interviewed Ruby Pearl and Randy Starr.  Starr identified the rope and gun used in the Tate murders.  He had once owned the gun.
1970, April Officer DeWayne Wolfer determined the wire cutters (identified by Kasabian) did not match cut at Tate residence.
1970, April (est) Beausoleil was convicted of Hinman murder.
1970, April 13 Manson filed an affidavit of prejudice against Judge Keene.  Keene accepted the complaint and Charles Older became the judge.
1970, April 15 Sergeant Lee visited Spahn Ranch.  Found additional .22 caliber shell casings.
1970, May Beausoleil petitioned for a new trial based on an affidavit signed by Brunner stating that she lied at his trial.  Brunner was called to the stand and reversed herself several times.  Beausoleil's petition was denied.
1970, May Manson made a motion to represent himself in the Hinman murder trial.  He was denied.
1970, May 11 Atkins filed a declaration repudiating her grand jury testimony.
1970, May 25 Bugliosi discovered that police had a door from Spahn Ranch in evidence with the phrase "Helter Skelter is coming down fast" written on it.
1970, Early June Manson moved to replace Hughes with Kanarek as his attorney.  It was allowed.
1970, Early June Bugliosi visited Lake at Patton State Hospital where she was admitted in January.
1970, June 9 Manson turned his chair away from the judge and said "The Court has shown me no respect  so I am going to show the Court the same thing."
1970, June 10 Atkins, Krenwinkel and Van Houten turned their backs on the judge.
1970, June 11 Manson stood with head bowed and arms out as if crucified.  Girls did the same.
1970, June 15 Start of jury selection
1970, June or July Brunner was reindicted and rearrested for Hinman murder but was released on a write of habeas corpus.
1970, June or July Grogan pled guilty to grand theft auto (from Barker raid)   Received probation and returned to Manson Family.
1970, June 24 Krenwinkel interrupted voir dire and asked to have Fitzgerald removed as her attorney.  Denied.
1970, June 25 Van Houten interrupted voir dire and asked to have Reiner removed as her attorney.  Denied.
1970, July 14 Prosecution and defense accepted a jury and they were sworn.  Still had to select alternates, though.
1970, July 17 Van Houten formally requested to have Reiner replaced as her attorney.  Ronald Hughes was appointed.
1970, July 21 The six alternate jurors were sworn in.
1970, July 24 Tate murder trial began.  Manson appeared in court with "X" cut on forehead.
1970, August Dianne Lake left Patton State Hospital.
1970, September Dianne Lake entered high school.
1970, September 4 Charlene Cafritz died of a nembutol overdose.
1970, September 5 Bomb exploded at Hall of Justice.
1970, October 31 Charles Watson moved to Atascadero State Hospital.
1970, November 16 State rests in Tate-LaBianca case.
1970, November 19 Defense rests in Tate-LaBianca case.
1970, November 20 Manson made his "children that come at you" speech in court.
1970, December 2 Bruce Davis and Nancy Pitman turned themselves in to California police.
   
1971, January 25 Manson and girls convicted in Tate/LaBianca trial.
1971, February 14 Charles Watson was removed from Atascadero State Hospital.
1971, March 29 Jury gives death sentence in Tate-LaBianca case.
1971, March 29 Ronald Hughes' body was found.
1971, April 19 Judge Older gives death sentences in Tate-LaBianca case.
1971, June Dianne Lake finished high school.
1971, August 13 Robbery of a Covina beer distributorship by Manson Family.
1971, August 21 Shootout at Western Surplus Store in Hawthorne, CA.
1971, October 20 Kenneth Como escaped jail.  Picked up by Sandy Good.
1972, February 18 California Supreme Court rules death penalty unconstitutional.
1972, November 8 Body of James Willett was found in Guerneville, CA.  Manson Family murder victim.
1972, November 11 Body of Lauren Willett was found in Stockton, CA.  Manson Family murder victim.
1974, September 22 George Spahn died at age 85.  Last residence was North Hollywood, Los Angeles, California.
1975, September 5 Lynette Fromme pointed gun at President Gerald Ford.
1975, October Ruth Ann Moorehouse was arrested on a four-year-old warrant.
1975, November 26 Lynette Fromme found guilty for attempted assassination of President Ford.
1977, August 6 Van Houten's trial ended in hung jury.
1978, November 15 James Craig was shot in the face.  Edward Albert Barabas died in the same incident.  Barabas lived with Priscilla Cooper.
1978, December 22 James Teurrill Craig died.
1979, September 7 Charles D. Watson (33) married Kristin J. Svege (20) in San Luis Obispo county.
