2003 Updates and NewsThe following were updates and news items during 2003. DECEMBER NEWS: I've been contacted by the producer of an upcoming Manson documentary for TV. No air date is known, yet. I'll announce the network at a later date. DECEMBER UPDATES: I've added the First LaBianca Homicide Investigation Report. The Second Tate Report is partially complete. The report of Ballarat Bob Dunlap's death was incorrect. Bob is still with us, happily. A photo of Marina Habe has been added. Added a list of movies filmed at Spahn Movie Ranch. I've added a couple of nice articles. One on Abigail Folger and another on Manson's early life. NOVEMBER NEWS: The new movie of "Helter Skelter" will reportedly be broadcast in May 2004 on CBS. The Spahn Movie Ranch parts are currently being filmed on Sand Canyon Road in Santa Clarita, California. It will be three hours long. Ever wonder what became of Witold K? He has a website! NOVEMBER UPDATES: Minor additions to the page on The Process (info on Tex's statements and the Church of Satan). OCTOBER NEWS: Dennis Rice will speak in Hanover, PA. Click here. SFPD dismisses the new Zodiac claim. The Los Angeles Times mentioned that the new "Helter Skelter" movie has begun filming with Jeremy Davies starring as Manson. Internet Movie Database is listing some of the actors in the upcoming "Helter Skelter." Roman Polanski will not be allowed to testify by video link in his liable case against Vanity Fair magazine. WARNING: Many people like to collect items related to the Manson case. Most popular, perhaps, is art by Manson. Please be careful when buying such items as these are sometimes fake. I'm currently aware of someone in Ohio selling counterfeit items. I've also heard of people having non-delivery problems with a dealer in Illinois. TEX WATSON NEWS: Tex's mother passed away this past December 8. He lost his father in 1993. Thanks to Mr. X for the lead. POLANSKI LAWSUIT: Roman is lining up an all-star list of witnesses for his lawsuit against "Vanity Fair." Planned witnesses include Mia Farrow, Catherine Deneuve and Adrien Brody. HINMAN HOUSE FOR SALE? I've received a tip (thanks Ryan) that Gary Hinman's house is possibly for sale. There's a "for sale" sign in front, near the edge of the property. It could possibly be for a neighboring house but appears to be for the Hinman house. ATKINS LAWSUIT: Most of Susan Atkins' lawsuit has been dismissed. Click here and here to read. COMO RELEASED: The Federal Prison Inmate Locator says Kenneth Como was released on May 26. KASABIAN'S DRUG BUST: It looks like the story of Linda Kasabian and her daughter getting busted for drugs wasn't quite right. HENDRICKSON SUES AMAZON: Robert Hendrickson has sued Amazon and several others over sells of bootleg copies of the "Manson" documentary. Click here. BILL FARR AWARD: This year's award has been named. Click here. KOTT HOUSE FOR SALE: Sharon's next-door-neighbor's house was recently on the market. If you click here you can see some photos and take some 360 degree tours on the house which offer some views of the Tate gate/garage area. MAMA CASS HOUSE: If you're read Ed Sanders' book ("The Family") then you're familiar with Mama Cass and her connections to the case. Did you know Dan Ackroyd and Natalie Wood both later lived in this house? And even better, the house is supposedly haunted and inspired Ackroyd to create the movie "Ghostbusters." Much of the Spahn area is now part of a state park, but not quite all. Thanks to DutchUncle for the tips. SPAHN RANCH AND THE DIXIE CHICKS: Thanks to Dennis O'Connor for tipping us off to a little story in the current "Star Magazine." It's the issue with the front page story "Catherine Zeta Jones Sex Tape Scandal." You can read a couple of related article on the web here and here. To make a long story short, The Dixie Chicks have taped a Lipton Ice Tea commercial at the former site of Spahn Movie Ranch. Supposedly the Chicks were spooked and had an American-Indian shaman cleanse the area. From the little bit I've read, the taping sounds like it might have been on adjacent property rather than on the "front" ranch. The story apparently mentions that the Church owns the property, but most of Spahn is a State Historic Park, now. The Church is located across the street. I don't know who currently owns the "back" ranch which is private property these days. Update-The commercial likely will never be shown. BEATLES DVD: Due to the Manson/Beatles connection, I thought I'd mention that "The Beatles Anthology" is finally being released on DVD. It has all of the original material plus some additional footage. NEW DVD RELEASE: "The Ramrodder" is now available on DVD. This is the porn movie featuring Bobby Beausoleil and Catherine "Gypsy" Share. FEBRUARY NEWS: Click here for a little story about the guard who drove Manson to trial for nine months. JANUARY NEWS: Bruce Davis was denied parole on January 29th. He received a one-year denial which is pretty much what he's been receiving for many years. Read the story here. January 24, 2003 would have been Sharon Tate's 60th birthday. The federal prison inmate locator webpage shows that Ken Como will be released on May 26th. This is the third date that the website has shown for those keeping count. Dennis Wilson's famous house at 14400 Sunset is for sell at just under $5 million. The Manson Family lived with Dennis in the house for a while. After researching, I found that someone wanted to turn the property into a housing subdivision in 1999. The Broadway musical "Dance of the Vampires" (based on the Tate/Polanski movie "Fearless Vampire Killers") closed on January 25.
