2010 Updates and NewsThe following were updates and news items during 2010. DECEMBER UPDATE: Robert "Bobby" Beausoleil, 63, has been denied parole for the fifteenth time. He may not apply again for another five years. I've been negligent in reporting the DVD release of "Manson, My Name is Evil." It first appeared under the title "Leslie, My Name is Evil" but apparently somebody decided that "Manson" would sell more copies. Either way, the movie is more about Van Houten than Manson. It's certainly not a film for the average person, but if you like films that others would consider strange then this is for you. Let's say that if you like your films along the lines of the original "Helter Skelter" then you may be disappointed. Me? I like it. NOVEMBER UPDATE: This is sort of old news, I guess, unless you haven't heard it. Dean Moorehouse passed away May 22, 2010, according to the Social Security Death Index (SSDI) database. His last address of record was in Shasta Lake, California. He was born February 13, 1920, which made him 90 at the time of death. His Social Security Number was issued in Minnesota and was 469-16-0531. I only stumbled across this while checking to see if he was still listed in the California Sex Offenders Registry. When I saw he wasn't, I thought to check the SSDI and found he had died. There has been question in the past about the spelling of his name. The SSDI has it as Dean Allen Moorehouse. SEPTEMBER UPDATE: Quite a while back, I developed a computer model of the Sharon Tate house and property. I've shared it with some people but never have posted about it on this site. It's obviously not finished but I thought I'd share a few renderings created from the model. Let me know what you think (but keep in mind it's not finished!). Click here. SEPTEMBER NEWS: Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme shops at Walmart. "Inside Edition" tracked her down, living in New York. Click here. SEPTEMBER BOOKS: I haven't had a chance to read it yet, but be sure to check out the new book "Secrets of Death Valley, Mysteries and Haunts of the Mojave Desert," edited by Timothy Green Beckley. JUNE NEWS: California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has rejected parole for Bruce Davis. Click here. -<*>- Robert "Ballarat Bob" Dunlap has passed away. Click here. APRIL NEWS: Danny Galindo, an LAPD detective on the Tate-LaBianca murders, has passed away at age 88. Click here. MARCH NEWS: If you're in Las Vegas you'll have a rare opportunity to view the knives and rope from the Manson murders. They're currently on display at the 2010 California Homicide Investigators Association Conference. Click here. It looks like March 5th is the final day, though. Click here and then go to the section named "Behind the Scenes." Update: Additional stories say the LaBianca fork and the Manson Family car are also included in the exhibit. Check some photos here. JANUARY NEWS: Bruce Davis update. I could remember something about Davis having some additional time to serve if he was ever paroled. I thought it was in one book but it wasn't. Then I tracked it down in his 1993 parole hearing. Page 48, if you have a copy. If I understand it right, there's a federal hold on him. When he's released on the murder charges, he'll be turned over to the U.S. Marshall and there's a three year sentence. At his '93 hearing he said he might have to serve two years. Here's the quote:
-<*>- Bruce Davis has been recommended for parole by the Board of Parole Hearings. That doesn't mean he'll be walking out the door today. Officials will first review the decision for legal and factual errors. If things are still good after 120 days then it will go on to the governor, who has 30 days to review the case. He can take no action, reject or modify the decision, or change the release date. (Thanks to multiple people who sent this info to me.) -<*>- "Orange Coast" has a lengthy article on Susan Atkins' husband, James Whitehouse. -<*>- Aaron Stovitz, the original Manson Family prosecutor, passed away on Monday, January 25th of leukemia. His family has asked for donations, in his memory, to the Leukemia Research Foundation.
