AFFIDAVIT OF AUTHENTICITY
I, Dennis Rice, came to The Manson Family in 1970 shortly after the Tate-LaBianca
murders. I became involved in several efforts to assist with
Manson’s defense, i.e. the so-called ‘Honolulu Hamburger Caper’, etc.. When all
efforts failed, and Charlie and other family members were convicted and sentenced
to death, I became involved in an effort to break them out of jail. This
resulted in the robbery of an army surplus store in Hawthorne, California during
which we were arrested and sent to prison.
During the various trials, some of the so-called Manson
girls remained camped out on the corner of Temple and Broadway just below
Manson’s cell in the Los Angeles County Jail. In the daytime they would
protest the injustices of the trials and advocate Charlie’s innocence to the
news media and anyone else who would listen. They also ran errands,
embroidered, visited Family members who were in jail, consulted with attorneys
and attended hearings. At night they slept in my van which was parked at the
curb. They also helped smuggle contraband to those of us who were in jail.
Prior to my coming to the Family, I had a three-piece suit
that had been given to me by my brother. I asked the girls if they would
embroider the vest for me as they had done for Charlie. They did and gave it to
me following my release from prison. It has remained with me ever since.
I served three terms in prison and while there came to know
Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. Other convicts witnessed to me and
I could not deny the change in their lives. A number of former Manson followers
had also surrendered their lives to Christ. Following my release in 1978, I
became involved in a good church where I experienced God’s love and direction
for my life. I began participating with the church in their juvenile hall
ministry and was launched into a ministry which endures to this day. I have
spoken in jails and prisons from Africa to Alaska, providing living proof of
what God can do in a life totally surrendered to Him.
In 1994, my wife and I founded Free Indeed Ministries,
Inc., a non-profit 501c3 corporation which enables me to fulfill my calling. We
are supported by those who believe in our vision of reaching prisoners and their
families with the life-changing power of the Gospel. To further our cause and
facilitate my going into prisons I am offering this ‘vest’ to any person or
group donating $50,000 (U.S. dollars) to our ministry. I authorize CharlieManson.Com to make this announcement.
Donations are tax deductible.
