MANSON RELATED VIDEOS
Here are some links to Manson related video tapes which you can purchase through
Amazon.Com (which is one of the largest book dealers on the internet). The
sales are handled totally by Amazon and not by this web site. To the best of my knowledge, Manson makes no money from any of these
sales.
NEW "The
Manson Family" has finally been released after years of work. The
rough cut of Jim VanBebber's movie has circulated in bootleg form as "Charlie's
Family" in the past. Now it has been finished and is available in two
forms. One is a
single disc DVD and the other is a
double-disc set. (Scheduled for release in late April 2005).
"Helter
Skelter" (2004) - 2004
saw the broadcast of a new version of the "Helter Skelter" movie. The
uncensored version has been released on DVD and can be
ordered from Amazon, now. You can read an outline of the movie by
clicking here.
"Helter
Skelter" (1976) is now available on DVD. This made-for-TV movie
was originally broadcast over two nights. Of course, it is based on the Bugliosi book of the same title.
"Manson" - This is the Robert Hendrickson documentary with film footage
of the Manson Family. Has a
soundtrack by Paul Watkins and Brooks Posten! The very best film you'll
ever find on the Manson Family. Used VHS copies are often on eBay.
"Charles
Manson - Superstar" -
Brought to you by the same guy who did the book "The Manson File".
Available on
VHS
or DVD!
"A&E
Biography - Charles Manson" - I only saw this when it was broadcast
(and not the actual videotape), but they should be identical. Very
good. One of the better media jobs when it comes to Manson.
"Twentieth
Century With Mike Wallace: Monsters in Our Midst-Manson Family and Serial
Killers" - Another A&E Biography show.
"Court
TV - Crime Stories: Charles Manson" - The Court TV special. Very
good.
"Rivals:
Manson vs. Bugliosi" - This video has a lot of photos (many that
I'd never seen before) and more info on Bugliosi than you usually hear.
Pretty interesting. I managed to see it on the Discovery People channel.
"Charles
Manson and The Boston Strangler - The Untold Story" - If anyone knows what
the heck this thing is, please let me know! I assume it's two separate and
unrelated documentaries on one tape. So, I'd guess the Manson part is only
half of the show.
"The
Helter Skelter Murders" - Also known as "The Other Side of Madness."
This is a black and white bit of weirdness. I thought it was unwatchable
but others seem to like it.
"Judgement
Day Theater: Book of Manson" - This 1989 movie is probably the worst Manson
flick ever. This is a film made on a home video camera by a group of twentysomethings in their house and back yard. No costumes to speak of; the
"actors" dress the same way they probably do every day (tee shirts and
sunglasses). Some actors play multiple parts. Not even a very accurate
depiction of the Manson case. LOTS of drug use; some sex. I have no idea how
this one ever made it to Amazon. This has to be one of the least watchable
things ever. Really doesn't have a plot; mostly just drug use and
random lines that someone who didn't know the case very well might imagine the
Family members saying. Odd film. [1]
"Serial
Killers: Profiling the Criminal Mind, Vol. 04: Charles Manson" - An
A&E show with FBI profiler John Douglas.
"The
Ramrodder" is now available on DVD. This is the movie featuring
Bobby Beausoleil and Catherine "Gypsy" Share. Although this has
sometimes been referred to as "porn," it is quite tame by today's standards.
Heck, Amazon sells it, so you know it can't be too bad!
"Biography
- Roman Polanski" - The A&E Biography episode on Sharon's
husband. So, of course, it has some on the murders.
"Closure"
- A music video by Nine Inch Nails. This includes a video of "Gave
Up" which was filmed in the Tate house. Thanks to Gizzo99 for the info.
"Fearless
Vampire Killers" - The Sharon Tate and Roman Polanski movie.
"Valley
of the Dolls" - A Sharon Tate movie.
"Don't
Make Waves" - A Sharon Tate movie.
"The
Wrecking Crew" - A Sharon Tate movie.
"Rosemary's
Baby" - The Roman Polanski movie that is frequently mentioned in Manson
books. (VHS
or DVD)
"Macbeth"
- The Roman Polanski movie with a murder scene that some say was inspired by
Sharon's murder.
"Pink Flamingos" - This John Waters movie has a few references to the Manson
Family and is dedicated to Sadie, Katie and Leslie. [2]
