John Waters attended the Manson trial.
His book ("Shock Value") has a photo of him visiting Charles
"Tex" Watson. He also works for the parole of Leslie Van Houten.

Nearly every John Waters movie has some sort of reference to the
Manson Family. If you know of any examples, feel free to let me know.
Here are a few:
Desperate Living:
- A portrait of Manson is in Queen Carlotta's cardboard
castle.
- Someone says "Squeaky Fromme, where are you when we need
you?"
Multiple Maniacs:
- Actress divines claims to have murdered Sharon Tate.
Pink Flamingos:
- Graffiti on a wall says "Free Tex Watson."
- A picture of Susan Atkins hangs on the wall of Connie and
Raymond Marble's house.
- The movie is dedicated to "Sadie, Katie and Les" which are
aliases for Atkins, Krenwinkel and Van Houten.
Polyester:
- A news announcement states that one of the female Manson
Family members has escaped from prison.
Serial Mom:
- Manson's photo is in a book that Beverly is reading in bed.
Beverly is also accused of buying a copy of "Helter Skelter."
Unknown Movie:
- A model helicopter seen in the opening was made by Charles
"Tex" Watson.
